How long does it typically take to repair a window?

The time it takes to repair a window depends on the type and extent of damage. Repairing fogged double-pane windows or fixing seals generally takes 1-2 business days. Delux Window & Glass has a similar turnaround time for non-tempered units at 1-2 days. More complex windows, such as a new retrofit window or patio door frames, can take 3-4 weeks.

As a proud manufacturer of our own dual-pane and single-pane units in our advanced glass shop, we can offer residential window glass repair services with some of the fastest turnaround times in Las Vegas. From measurement to installation, we strive to deliver fast glass repair services for all of Las Vegas.

Can window cracks be repaired, or do I need a new window?

Any broken or cracked window glass must be replaced with a new dual-pane or single-pane window. Contrary to popular belief, there is no option to repair a cracked window. Delux Window and Glass offers quick and affordable glass replacement services, ensuring high-quality results for your home. As a local glass shop, we specialize in replacing residential glass, providing fast and reliable solutions for all your window glass needs.

What should I do if my window won't open or close properly?

If your window isn’t opening or closing correctly, start by checking to see if debris or obstructions are blocking the window’s tracks or hinges. Next, try lubricating the tracks and hinges with silicone spray or applying a small amount of wax to help them move more smoothly.

If the problem persists, avoid forcing the window, as it could cause further damage. Instead, contact Delux Window and Glass for professional assistance. Our experienced technicians know how to diagnose and repair window operation issues efficiently, ensuring your windows are fully functional.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Yes, Delux Window & Glass proudly offers a warranty on all our work. We stand behind the quality of our services, ensuring peace of mind for our customers regarding the durability and reliability of their window and glass repairs. We offer a standard, one-year warranty against fogging on all dual-pane windows we manufacture. We also offer a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on new retrofit windows. This warranty is provided by Alpine Windows.

What are retrofit windows, and how do they differ from new construction windows?

Retrofit windows fit into existing window frames without requiring extensive modifications to the surrounding structure. Unlike new construction windows, which are installed during the building or remodeling process, retrofit windows are installed by removing the old sash and inserting a new window unit into the existing frame. This makes retrofit windows a convenient and cost-effective option for upgrading your home’s windows, offering improved energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal without significant renovations.

What type of retrofit windows do you offer? Can I customize the appearance of retrofit windows to match my home's aesthetic?

Delux Window & Glass offers Alpine flush fin retrofit windows, ideal for upgrading old single- or dual-pane windows without stucco or drywall damage. Available in white, almond, and clay colors with various glass options, these windows enhance aesthetics and energy efficiency. They include both frame and glass replacement, allowing customization in frame colors, grid patterns, and hardware finishes to match your home’s aesthetic.

What type of new construction windows do you offer? Can I customize the appearance of retrofit windows to match my home's aesthetic?

At Delux Window & Glass, we proudly offer Alpine new construction (nail fin) windows explicitly designed for installation during the framing stage of new builds. A nail fin window features a flange around the outer edge, allowing it to be securely attached to the framing of a building for enhanced stability and weather resistance. These windows provide the perfect combination of durability and aesthetic appeal, integrating seamlessly into new construction projects.

Additionally, our extensive selection of customization options for retrofit windows allows you to match them to your home’s aesthetic, with choices in frame colors, grid patterns, and hardware finishes, ensuring a perfect fit for your design preferences.

What situations are considered window repair emergencies?

Regarding urgent window or glass door repair needs, several situations require immediate attention to ensure your home’s safety, security, and integrity. A few examples include:

  1. Shattered or Broken Glass – A window that is completely destroyed or has large, dangerous shards of glass.
  2. Window Damage from Burglary or Forced Entry – Damage caused by a break-in that leaves your home vulnerable to intruders.
  3. Severe Storm or Weather Damage – Windows broken or cracked due to high winds, hail, or flying debris. Windows that break during extremely hot or cold weather, impacting the home’s internal temperature and safety.
  4. Water Leakage – Significant water intrusion through broken or damaged windows, leading to potential water damage inside the home.
  5. Broken or Inoperable Locks – Window locks that are damaged, making it impossible to secure the window properly.

My sliding glass door won't slide very well. Is there anything that can be done?

We can both replace broken patio door glass as well as work on doors that are not operating properly. It is important to remember that sliding glass doors are exposed to all kinds of abuse from wind, sun, rain, and use. Patio glass doors have wheels that will wear out with use or even just over time. The first step if your door is not operating properly is to clean the track. The problem might be as simple as dirt and debris causing the wheels to stick. If cleaning the track does not work, we can help. We offer wheel replacement on sliding glass doors. There are many types of wheels and many manufacturers of patio glass doors. We will generally come out and take a look at the wheels and order the right wheel for your door. Then install the new wheels. This process can take 5-7 business days.

What type of window glass qualifies for your DIY service?

DIY service is for homeowners, handymen, property managers, and anyone else who can bring the frame of the broken glass into our glass shop. We are located near the airport which is pretty close to most areas of Las Vegas. While we are in 89120, the nearest zip codes to us are 89123, 89183, 89052, 89074, 89014, 89121, 89122, and 89012. But even homeowners needing glass repair in zip codes 89118, 89135, 89113, 89139, 89144, 89117, 89134, 89178, 89179, 89147, and 89148 are within a short drive to your glass company near me.
Typically, window frames that are brought into the window glass facility are sliding windows. When a customer brings in the window frame to us, we manufacture new glass and install it into the customer’s window frame. This can be done with dual panes, single panes, low-E dual panes, and windows with grids. Tempered glass does require a 2-3 business days lead time, so those are not good candidates for the DIY glass replacement service.

I broke one pane of my double pain window, can I just replace one side of the window glass?

A dual pane glass window is a sealed thermal unit comprised of 2 pieces of glass, a spacer, a sealant and a chemical or gas between the 2 pieces of window glass. So when one side or one piece of glass is broken, chipped, scratched or shattered. The whole unit is replaced. Meaning both the inner and outer pane. The double pane window glass unit is replaced.

This is certainly different than single pane glass replacement where the piece of glass is independent. A typical house window is comprised of 2 parts. The frame and the glass.

The frame could be an aluminum frame or it could be a vinyl frame. The frame is what is attached to the house. Typically before a home is stuccoed, nail fin window frames are nailed to the studs then they are water sealed onto the house.

The second part of a window is the glass. The glass is independent of the frame. This is why when a glass is broken, the glass can be replaced. All windows are designed to have the glass come out of the frame and be replaced.

Are there any special maintenance requirements for retrofit windows compared to standard windows?

Retrofit windows generally require the same maintenance as standard windows. We recommend regular cleaning of glass and frames, inspection of seals and weatherstripping for wear or damage, and occasional hardware lubrication.

What are new construction windows, and how do they differ from retrofit or replacement windows?

New construction windows are designed for installation during a home’s initial construction or major remodeling. They include the entire window frame and are typically secured directly to the house’s framing. This installation method requires removing the exterior siding and possibly interior finishes to properly integrate the window into the structure. In contrast, retrofit or replacement windows are installed into existing window openings without extensive modifications to the surrounding walls.

My patio door glass is scratched, can the scratch be removed in the double pane glass door?

A patio door glass is a special type of glass called tempered glass. Tempered glass is heat strengthened glass that is typically 4 times stronger than annealed glass. While it is stronger than regular glass, it can still break. When the glass is broken, it shatters which is by design, the shattering is into thousands of small pieces, while the pieces are still sharp, they are not long jagged pieces that will cut deeply into someone. Sometimes tempered glass is called safety glass. Further there are several locations of windows that building code requires tempered glass to be installed.

While there are tools designed to “remove” a scratch, it is typically not cost effective nor is it a perfect finished product. The term remove is not entirely accurate when we discuss a scratch in the glass. The process of scratch removal is more like scratch hiding. A machine will sand down the area around the glass with polishing powder and a brush. The idea is to hide the scratch by sanding the area around the scratch to fade the scratch so while the imperfection is still there it can not be seen by the eye because the machine has bowed the area toward the scratch so there is not a visible line. Further this process can break the patio door glass.

If a patio door glass is broken, we recommend replacement of the glass. While this can be more costly, the quality is far better and a guaranteed fix to the issue.

Where is tempered glass required to be installed in Las Vegas windows?

Since Delux Windows and Glass is a licensed, bonded, and insured Las Vegas glass company. We always follow the building codes and general accepted best industry practices when installing windows and doors. So, an easy way to think about where tempered glass is required is to ask this question: can someone realistically fall through the window glass? Doors are always required to be tempered glass. This is all doors, French door glass, sliding patio door glass and front door glass inserts. Glass that is less than 24 inches from a door or from a floor. Stairway glass and any glass less than 60 inches from the water line of a pool bathtub or shower.
